Wow!!

Well it's official, the new CSA scores are out.  We've made huge improvements!  We have some work to do still but this is nothing short of amazing.

March 2011

Now

All that hard work is paying off.  Makes running reports morning and night a bit easier now that we can see the results!  I'm going to go ahead and toot my own horn since I was the guy that trained everyone on eLogs and trained the log auditors to learn how to use the PFM to audit eLogs.  Without this we'd still be getting inspected at a much higher rate.  With this being said, I'll go back to we still have a lot of work to do as we have drivers/office staff that aren't safety minded.

And onto the the fun stuff.  As you know this week is "e" and Green (that has two e's by the way)

So we went to the park this morning and saw some "e"'s

BLUE "E"

BLACK "E"

"E"ating

Slid"e"

That was all fun and games until the kids from St. Joe's arrived. They were an unruly bunch. I found it ironic that they aren't supposed to go on the merry-go-round, but they can climb up on the top of the monkey bars, and all over the outside of the playground equipment.  My guess is you'll probably get hurt much worse when you fall the 15 feet to the ground then you will from falling off of the merry-go-round.

Anyways, back on topic. Videos, so Green. Yeah, not as exciting as pink or yellow.

What a weekend

Ok, first off sorry about not posting on Friday.  Gavin started the day off by dropping a Roomba on his toe.  It sliced his toenail off and bled everywhere. It was gross and clearly needed medical attention. So we went to the Upland Hills Urgent Care.  I'll post pictures someday.

The weekend continued with some geocaching with Ruth, that was fun. We went back for a candlelight walk without Ruth (you know because she had to go home).  That was pretty fun, but Gavin wasn't feeling it, so I carried him most of the way.  Melissa and Logan got smores and hot chocolate by the bonfire afterwards.

Sunday AM I caught up on reports, focusing mostly on Miles Without Hours.  That's when either the people net fails, a driver logs out (to cheat the system), or the shop uses the truck.  for the most part our drivers are doing well. I was able to identify several drivers that thought they were getting away with something. All they've done at this point is draw more attention to themselves and taken one step closer to finding a new job.  I'll complete the report shortly and send it off to my supervisor and he can make the call. I think log falsification deserves termination because everyone knows that is not acceptable, anywhere.

Alright, back to more fun stuff. Logan has decided this weeks color will be GREEN!!!!  and of course our letter is E.

GREEN truck right outside of our front door!
GREEN garbage cans!

"E"njoying the park.
GREEN leaf
Playing together!
That foot isn't bothering him too much, giving Logan a ride.

Vid"e"o's  (ok that was a stretch)

Sniffles, and beds.

Wow, so going to work is way easier than staying home when you're sick. All you do when your sick at work is look and act miserable and everyone leaves you alone.  Do it at home and your kids say stuff like "Mom's and Dad's don't get sick".  Yep it's awesome.  Last night there were a handful of calls, pretty easy to handle. Looking at the HOS violators this morning it looks like there should have been a handful more calls last night. Roll Stability is getting easier to understand, I find it difficult to delegate to others. I miss having the control of the conversations and knowing when to push and when not to.

This morning we took a ride to the park, not much for colors. Well that's not true to the leaves are changing nicely. We go to the park and played in the leaves before the city workers started mowing them up.

Reports and sand boxes

So it was an average busy night, like 5 phone calls spread out between 10 and 3, that kind of sucked.  Oh well up at 0530 to run reports.  I finished up the biggest one last night where we tallied all of the violations for the month, broke it down by driver and totaled the amount of time they spent in violation.  Sounds like a lot just typing it, keep in mind we're not the most compliant company so it took a long freakin' time. I should probably take a course on micro computer applications (and you know actually pay attention this time).

This morning we got dressed up for the weather and went to the park, Logan didn't want to ride his bike so he just walked.  Gavin did want to ride his bike, he became very upset when I didn't have his helmet, but he rode anyways (well he sat on his bike and I pushed him).  We played at both parks, the kids loved the volleyball court.  They were digging for dinosaur bones.

Hey look "pink letters

October

Wow it's already October.  Logan picked out the color this week, we're looking for things that are pink.   We're also learning about the letter D, and searching for the letter D during our play time.

So we took a wagon ride to the park and we noticed some "d''s and things that were pink.

pink sign

pink flowers

script "d"

regular "d"

Then we came back ate some lunch and learned about pink, and the letter "d"

Pink elephants

Remember how there was no yellow, well there is no pink either.

this one was a bit more fun.

Sicky Sick-a-roo

So I've been sick this week. But I can give you a recap of events.  Wednesday I had to go to Hirschbach for a safety meeting.  The kids, Grandpa Messer and I went to the farm until then.
We found out that Grandpa's new truck is red, the color of the week.

All strapped in for a 4 wheeler ride.

Thursday was mostly business as usual.  Still sick.  So I found some pumpkin medicine. Gavin enjoyed the new easel from Grandma Jean.  A true work of art!
Tommyknocker Brewery, Small Patch Pumpkin Harvest Ale

Once he got going, he really liked it.
The final product.

Thursday night, Melissa decided Logan needed a haircut. He wanted a mohawk like his awesome dad. Today, he said he wanted it to be "sharp like a chainsaw so I can cut down a cactus."

And now it's Friday.  He are a few red things we found on the way to the park.
It took all week, but they finally realized stop signs are red
The spider became our friend.

I finally got the OER data on a rollover we had like 2 weeks ago.  I broke that down and applied my two cents to it.  I'd say it's the drivers fault, too fast for conditions and what not.  The biggest issue that I had was that when he crashed he severed the connection from his OER.  So until it was recovered and plugged in at the office we had no idea what happened.  Now we do, so I'm sure there will someone who disagrees with my turn of events, but I don't care. They're not paying me to be agreeable, they're paying me to analyze data.

Peace out, (please send Nyquil)

Two's day

Wow I'm tired this morning, a handful of calls last night really took me out of it. Probably doesn't help that I'm starting to feel sick.  Oh well, got up ran my reports, even though I would have rather stayed in bed.  Then I noticed the speed gauge report only had 1 incident. I'm giving it until 12:00 to fix itself (yes I know it's not going to fix itself), and then I'll contact the company to see what's up.

We got up went to the park and played

Gavin going down the slide

Logan running, "watch out for that trap"

playing with another kid

Hey look the letter "c"

Everyone following Logan.

Things were going well until Logan started throwing sand, then it all went downhill.  On the bright side we only had like 3 minutes left so we just packed up said goodbye and went home.  We talked about not throwing sand.  I think they got it, we'll find out next time the have the opportunity to throw sand on some kid.

Lunch is cooking, now time for some videos featuring our color "RED"

It's a new week

Up at 0500 running weekend reports.  We've got a nice thing going and a much better way to track driver performance.  This should help us to be able to total out how many drivers violate and for how long.  It's a step in the right direction for a drivers scorecard.  We'll be able to combine that with Miles Without Hours and PC violations to ranks the drivers and what not.

Now for the fun stuff.  This week our color is RED!!! and our letter is "C", and we're looking for BIG TRUCKS!!!!

We started off by reading my "c" book.  It's not the most exciting book on earth but it's go the letter "c" in it.
Then we watched some videos.  The kids and I have different opinions on what is cool.

I liked these

The kids liked these

but mostly this one (and I hated it)

After deciding on our colors and letters we bundled up and went to the park.

On the slide

Still on the slide

Don't tell mom, but I let Logan go down the big slide
